What Your Body Knows That Your Mind Keeps Ignoring

6/28/2026

At some point, many women start to feel like their body is working against them.
The tension.  The fatigue.  The headaches, gut issues, tight chest, restless sleep.  It feels inconvenient.  Poorly timed.  Like one more thing to manage.  So we override it.  Push through.  Power past.  Explain it away as stress, age, hormones, or “just how life is right now.”  But Your body isn’t the problem.  It’s the messenger.

Your mind is excellent at adaptation.  It can normalize overload.  Rationalize misalignment.  Convince you that “this is fine” long past the point where it isn’t.  Your body doesn’t have that skill.  It communicates through sensation.  Through patterns.  Through discomfort that gets louder the longer it’s ignored.  Not to punish you.  Not to sabotage you.  But to protect you.

From a nervous system perspective, the body keeps track of what you’ve endured, even when you’ve told yourself it wasn’t a big deal.  Chronic tension often points to chronic vigilance.  Exhaustion shows up when rest has been deferred too long.  Numbness appears when feeling wasn’t safe.  These aren’t character flaws.  They’re adaptive responses.
Your body learned what it had to do to get you through.  And now it’s asking for something different.

Ok, Experiment Time!  I call this one the Start Listening Experiment.

Instead of asking,
“How do I get rid of this?”  Try asking,  “What is my body responding to?”  When does the discomfort increase?  What situations drain you the fastest?  Where do you feel it before your mind catches up?  You don’t need to analyze it to death.  Just notice.  Listening is not the same as fixing.  And it’s often the first real step toward relief.
Many high-achieving women approach their bodies the same way they approach their lives:  with management, discipline, and control.  But bodies don’t respond to force.  They respond to safety.  To slowing down enough to be felt.  To boundaries that reduce constant override.  To choices that honor limits instead of testing them.

Regulation doesn’t come from pushing harder.  It comes from permission.

If your body feels loud right now, it’s not because you failed.  It’s because it trusts you enough to speak.  You don’t have to decode everything today.  You don’t have to overhaul your life overnight.  You just have to stop treating the signal like an inconvenience.

Your body has been keeping score, not to judge you, but to guide you back to yourself.  And it’s still talking.

If you’ve been reading this thinking,
“something just feels off in my life, but I can’t fully explain it…”
You’re not alone and you’re not broken.

Most high-achieving women aren’t unhappy because they’re doing life wrong…
They’re unhappy because they’re solving the wrong problem.
