Because for most of my life, not knowing what’s next felt like failure. I thought real adults had a plan. A clear map. A five-year trajectory with benchmarks and color-coded deadlines. And honestly? I loved that illusion. It made me feel safe. But here’s the plot twist: Some of the most meaningful, expansive, soul-level transformations of my life didn’t come from a plan. They came from stepping into the unknown. And, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but there’s a joy in it. The Lie We Were Sold So many of us were raised to believe there’s a “right” path:
The Unknown Is Where Our Aliveness Lives Think about the best moments of your life, the ones that shaped you. Chances are, you didn’t have a perfect plan for those. A relationship that showed up out of nowhere… A job opportunity you never expected… A city you moved to because it felt right… A random yes that changed everything… The unknown isn’t a void. It’s a frontier. A place full of possibility if we let ourselves believe life can unfold in ways we couldn’t engineer. That doesn’t mean drifting aimlessly. It means loosening our grip on needing to know exactly how things will unfold… …and trusting that the next right step will reveal itself. Control Is Overrated. Curiosity Is Underrated. I used to white-knuckle my plans. If things didn’t go according to The Master Strategy, I spiraled. Now? I’m experimenting. I’ve learned that curiosity is so much lighter than control. Control says: “I need to be sure before I move.” Curiosity says: “I’ll take a step and see what happens.” One keeps you stuck. The other gets you moving, even when the path is foggy. And I’ll tell you this: Life is more fun when we allow ourselves to be surprised.
But it’s often where we finally ask: “Who do I want to be now?” And that question, that’s where the magic starts. A Different Way to Think About the Future Instead of asking: “What’s the plan?” Try asking: “What feels alive?” When there’s no roadmap, listen for the little sparks:
These sparks are invitations. You don’t have to know where they lead. You just have to take the next step. The best futures often begin with a whisper. I don’t know exactly what this business, podcast, and happiness movement will become. I only know this: It feels true. It feels alive. It feels like where I’m meant to be. And honestly? That’s enough to keep moving. The Experiment: Find Joy in the Unmapped This week’s experiment is simple: Let yourself not know. Instead of forcing clarity, try sitting with possibility. A few prompts to play with:
Then take one small action. Not to “figure it out”… Just to explore. What if the uncertainty you’re wrestling with is actually the doorway to the life you’ve been craving? What if you don’t need a perfect plan -- just enough courage to take the next step? What if the path you can’t yet see is the one that will finally feel like home? Sometimes the best things happen not because we were certain…but because we were open. Here’s to embracing the unknown. Here’s to surprise. Here’s to curiosity. Here’s to being alive. And here’s to the joy of not knowing what’s next. 🩷 And If you’re reading this and thinking, ‘Yeah… my life looks great on paper, but something still feels off,’ I want you to know you’re not alone. That’s literally why I created The Fulfilled Woman Experiment, a course to help you understand that gap and actually feel the confidence and fulfillment you’ve worked so hard for. Check it out here.
